Under Eye Circles

Under eye circles are very common and there are many reason one may have dark circles, not enough rest an allergic reactions or just heredity. Stress is also considered to be another common cause of dark circles, dehydration the body needs water at least 8 to 10 glasses a day.

The most common type of under-eye circles are usually an inherited trait like varicose veins and have nothing to do with underlying disease or how much sleep you get," says Paul Lazar, M.D., professor of clinical dermatology at Northwestern University in Chicago.

Dark circles run in families for a number of reasons. When blood passes through the veins under your eyes (where the skin is very thin), dark circles can appear. If your skin is more transparent (an inherited trait), the circles will appear darker. Getting a goods night sleep is one way to help in preventing some dark circles and yes it is easier said than done, especially in a world were there isn't enough time to do all we have to do. A lack of sleep or excessive tiredness can cause the skin under the eyes to become pale, thus, making the blood flowing under it visible.

The Mayo Clinic staff also states that if you get plenty of sleep and still have dark circles under your eyes, that's not unusual. Fatigue isn't the only reason for under-eye circles. What appear to be under-eye circles are sometimes just shadows cast by puffy eyelids or hollows under your eyes that develop as a normal part of aging.

Allergies and Eczema Any infection of the eye that leads to itching can contribute to dark circles as rubbing and scratching the eyes darkens the skin. People who suffer from hay fever will notice that dark circles appear when the allergy is at its height. Certain food allergies can cause dark circles too. A lack of vitamins and nutrients within the diet can lead to under eye circles on the lower lid of the eye.

Also heredity Dark circles under the eyes can be an inherited trait(Heredity — dark under-eye circles can run in families). If you have dark circles, then it is likely that other members of your family have dark circles too. The skin under the eye is very thin. When blood flows through veins close to surface of the skin it can produce a bluish tint. If your skin is transparent then the darker the circles will be. Transparent skin is also a inherited trait.

Excess sun exposure(Sun exposure, which prompts your body to produce more melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color) leading to damage of the eye area is another cause of dark circles which can form under the eye area. Sun damage comes from excess exposure in which the delicate skin around the eye is not protected with the use of sunscreen as well as eye cream. There are many types of eye creams which include sunscreen in the formulations to help reduce dark under eye circles which are caused by the sun. How does the sun cause damage to the eye area? Sun exposure reaches the eyes and causes UV rays to absorb into the skin, causing the burning and damage associated with under eye circles. As well as the damage, the sun can cause dryness to occur under the eyes, which can lead to skin losing moisture and becoming deteriorated.

And i just personally found this out that medication that dilates your blood vessels can cause dark circles under the eyes. As the skin under the eye is delicate an increase in blood shows through the skin in the form of dark circles.
Allergies( Rubbing or scratching your eyes) Atopic dermatitis (eczema)

Lifestyle factors, such as physical or emotional stress, smoking, or chronic alcohol use can take a toll on your appearance
Nasal congestion (which can dilate and darken the veins that drain from your eyes to your nose)

Thinning skin and loss of fat and collagen — common as you age — can make the reddish-blue blood vessels under your eyes more obvious

In WebMD they state dermatologist Audry Kunin, MD, writes in her book The DERMAdoctor Skin struction Manual that green tea bags may work particularly well. That's because they contain a natural anti-inflammatory chemical known as EGCG, which, she says, can reduce fluid build-up that contributes to puffiness.

Make up artist and bestselling beauty author Michael Maron says there is also some truth to the rumors that the hemorrhoid treatment Preparation H can help deflate under-eye bags. "It helps tighten and smooth skin on a very temporary basis," he says. "But be certain to use only the cream form, not the oil form, which can make the bags look worse."

Marmur agrees that Preparation H can be a temporary fix. But, she says, use it with caution. "You don't want to get this into your eyes," she says. "So be very careful when you apply it."

3.Vitamin C helps to strengthen blood vessel walls
4.Be sure to drink enough water
5.Wear sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 under the eyes to prevent skin weakening caused by sun damage
6.You can use a concealer for a quick fix
7..You can use tea bags and cucumbers. Both tea bags and cucumbers reduce inflammation and decrease swelling. Tea bags are especially good to use for dark swollen circles because there is tannin inside of the tea that helps with eliminating the puffiness.
